My momma has been very bad about letting me use the computer to update my blog. She’s ALWAYS updating *her* blog (which is also about me of course!) but she hogs the computer and won’t let me on it!
Last time I posted it was my 11 month ampuversary. Well, I am now way past my 12 month (that’s a whole year!) ampuversary. Mama says I have now been with them as a cancer girl longer than as a non-cancer girl. Whatevs. I’m still just me.
Here is a little run down of what’s been up with me:
*I killed my Barney dead. (Remember, I have my own Barney – not THE Barney…)
* We had a beach party with my family. We had a big bonfire and even us dogs got some special burgers made just for us.
* I tried to eat a persimmon.
* Mama dressed me up on Halloween like a Tripawd Warrior Princess
* I had my 1 year ampuversary and got a Flying Dutchman.
* I saw our neighbor naked and I barked at him like CRAZY! (There’s no picture of that one. I’m not sure why. Something about Mama stabbing her eyes out??)
* Mama is giving me something different in my peanut butter and my braunschweiger every morning. Whatevs. I don’t care, long as I get my peanut butter and my braunschweiger. (It’s something to do with my friend Dr. V. taking pictures of my insides. Everyone wants to take pics of me cuz I’m so pretty, but only Dr. V. is crazy enough to take pics of the insides of me!)
I am probably leaving out some details here or there. Mama’s blog fills in all the boring bits. I just hit the highlights! Cuz who wants to sit at a computer all day??? What kinda fun is that?? Um, it’s not fun.
Today Mama says it’s my 11 month ampuversary! We went to the beach this morning, but that is nothing new; we go there all the time. She told this nice old man that it was my ampuversary, and he gave me some loving and said I was “amazing” and a “princess”, but that is nothing new either. If I do say so myself, I am admired by most people at the beach, and a lot of them say nice things to me and sometimes they give me loving and sometimes they even give me treats! I’m reasonably certain that all this stuff happens because I am so pretty. They can’t resist my beauty. (Mama says I have a big ego – but I’m skinny, like a good model should be, so I don’t know what she’s talking about!)
I haven’t gotten any special treats yet to celebrate. My Mama says it is because I am not 100% a “solid citizen.” If I’m not, it’s not my fault! I eat what they give me (well, plus the occasional peach pit that I find in the yard, and sometimes a little funky stuff at the beach, but that’s all minor!) Anyway, she said that as long as my tummy feels good this weekend (my tummy feels awesome!) we can go get a Flying Dutchman at In-N-Out this weekend! Yum. My fave!
Just to remind you all what a pretty model I am, here’s a pic my mama took of me recently.
Wish me luck that I will get my Flying Dutchman this weekend! If I don’t, I’m going to have to eat all the peach pits I can find in the yard to show my displeasure!
That’s me – I’m a California Beach babe! I got to go back to the beach today! Hooray! My mom insisted on taking a little video of me running on the beach for proof that I am fine. (If she knew how to do these video things better she would show me running in slo-mo, like I was one of those Bay Watch babes!) Oh, and ignore my mom’s voice on the video. It gets high and squeaky sometimes. She’s so embarrassing. (Major eye roll.)
Just because I hurt my toe, she made me stay home from the beach for FOUR whole days!! It was OK at first, because my toe was maybe a little bit sore. But geez, FOUR days?? I admit – I took my frustrations out on Barney… hehehe.
First I turned him into a tripawd:
Then I turned him into a unipawd!!!
Oh yeah, just so nopawdy gets tooooo upset about me killing Barney – remember this is MY Barney, not the original Barney who is visiting Tripawd Warrior Princess Lylee right now. (I hope she is killing him good!)
Well, I just wanted to let everypawdy know that I am doing good. I hope you guys are all doing good too!
Hi everypawdy – I made my mom worry some more. Remember in my last post, when it was my 10 month ampuversary, but I couldn’t go to the beach because I did a wee little face plant? (OK, 2 face plants. And then I acted all tired. And then I had some runny poops.) Well, that turned out to be nothing – just a combo of an upset tummy and too-hot weather and a boo-boo on my toenail. I knew it was not a big deal, but my mom got all worried.
Well, today I managed to make her start worrying all over again. I have been really doing great – until last night. Even just yesterday morning, I went to the beach and ran for an hour and never laid down once! It was pawesome! But then last night I hurt myself running around the house like a maniac. I had an appointment today anyway with my friend, Dr. V., so we went early because mom was all in a panic. (eye rolling from me…) Well, Dr. V. said it is just a little boo-boo on my toe again. I sprained my third toe. I can still walk around, but my mom insists on trying to carry me, which is very embarrassing because I have big long legs and they just hang there and I feel like a floppy old rag-doll.
The bummer is that Dr. V. (who is SUPPOSED to be my friend…) said I can’t go to the beach for a few days. He said only short leash walks in the neighborhood. Poo on that!
Dr. V. listened to my lungs for a long time. He said they sound great. He said if he didn’t know that those 2 lung mints are in there (mom calls them Boris & Natasha) that no one would know I was sick. Duh! I could have told them that! All they’d have to do is take me to the beach and watch me RUN! I feel awesome! Well, except for my toe now… and the pills my mom gave me which are making me sleepy.
What’s that thing called?? Medicinal napping? I think I am going to go try that.
Oh, there was one other fun thing that happened recently. We had a HUGE blackout in San Diego. It was pawesome. And my pawrents missed the whole thing! They left town that afternoon like 10 minutes before all the fun began. I stayed with my aunt and uncle and my cousin, Lou the corgi. (He is old and doesn’t like to play, which sucks.) As soon as the sun went down it got really dark. Everyone was using flashlights – and I am CRAZY about flashlights. It was so fun, barking at everypawdy walking by, and chasing those crazy beams of light! Oh, such good times. Here I am in the dark:
I hope it happens again, because I thought it was the funnest thing ever.
Hi everypawdy. It’s me again – here to tell you that today is my 10 month ampuversary!! Whoo-hoo – I have hit the double digits.
But, on this super momentous occasion… do you know what?? My mom is NOT taking me to the beach. Yesterday we went like we always do on Sundays with both my mom and my dad. They were wearing their crazy colored shoes, which means we get to run a little bit. I love that! Anyway, it was hot yesterday – hotter than it’s been probably the whole summer, so I got a little bit tired and I did a little face plant when we were running downhill about 1/2 way through our walk/run. I got up and face-planted again. I heard my mom go “Oh!” but it was no big, I was still raring to go. They wouldn’t let me run anymore after that. 🙁
Then last night at the house it was really hot, so I took a night off from being my usual terrorist self. Usually at night I chew on mom’s toes while she tries to lay on the couch, so that she will get up and play – but I didn’t feel like it last night. I was just a little hot and tired, but they were making a big deal out of it, so now they say I am grounded and NO beach and NO walk today!! WtH??? My mom keeps poking at my good front leg and she is wondering if it looks ok. It looks fine! She is just uber paranoid. (Picture me rolling my eyes…)
To prove that I feel absolutely fine, I chased a stupid fly (almost as annoying as a Monkeybutt…) around the house this morning, but mom still doesn’t believe I am OK to go to the beach. She said that MAYBE if I am quiet and rest today she will take me this afternoon, but I have to stay in one spot and just get my feet wet and play a little bit. I can’t run around the whole island like I normally do. (Another eye roll from me…) I guess that is better than nothing, but even that is not for sure. She says we have to see… I think that sucks.
The only good thing about my celebration today is that I am for sure going to get a Frosty Paw later. The peanut butter flavor – yum! Keep your fingers crossed for me that I’ll get to go back to the beach tomorrow and be back to my normal routine! It is supposed to be a lot cooler tomorrow, so hopefully my mom will stop being the Activity Police!
Also to prove that I am fine and it was no big deal, here is a picture of me playing at the beach just the day before the face-plant. I look pretty pawesome, huh – mixing it up with the other dogs!
...and with the little dogs. I don't discriminate!
Hey everypawdy – My mom and dad got me my very own Barney, and now I get to kill it as much as I want!
The people they bought it from even threw in an extra Barney for free (my mom says something about demand must be low for Barneys, but I don’t know why that would be, cuz who doesn’t want his or her own Barney to kill???). Anyway, now I can kill the second one when I am done killing the first one!
I am killing him good.
Hey, my mom said today is National Dog Day, so we went to the beach, like we do most days, but we stayed an extra long time and my mom brought her camera and took a million pictures of super-model tripawd girl me! It was fun. I have spent a lot of the rest of NDD napping. It’s a good day. 🙂 Hope you are also having a good National Dog Day.
A fond farewell to our stinky little purple dino friend.
Abby here again. I’m pretty bummed out today. My mom fixed Barney up and we put him in a new box (the box he came in was looking a little worse for wear).
Mom bandaged him up the best she could. She put antibiotic cream on some of the deeper booboos I gave him. (Like the one on his butt! Ha!) She gave him some Tylenol PM so he’ll sleep on the way there.
Mom wanted to take a picture of him with his mementos from the trip. Not sure if mementos means the stuff we bought him at the zoo (a picture frame, a post card and a panda bear pin) or the wounds I inflicted on him… Anyway, while she was busy with her camera taking her mementos shot, I tried to sneak in and grab him one last time! See my head there:
I am very sad to see Barney go, but Mom gave me the box he came in to play with and it is super stinky, just like Barney, so I guess that’s the next best thing.
Now he is on his way to some other Tripawd who gets to have the fun of chewing on him. (Man, I am SO jealous!) But I’m not sayin’ where he’s going! I’m the only one who knows and you are just going to have to wait to find out!
Abby here, and it is time for the moment I know you’ve been waiting for. I know I was sure waiting for it anyway! It took my mom a whole week to completely get Barney relaxed enough to let his guard down. After his spaw day and his trip to the zoo, we brought him along to my favorite place in the world, Fiesta Island.
Here he is enjoying the view.
He pretended to be a lifeguard, like I did that one time. He still suspected nothing! (Even though I sorta tried to get him when he was in the lifeguard chair…)
Then, Mom sat him down and explained to him what was really going on, and she recorded it so if you click on the link below you can see what happened!
Okay, I admit it took me a little while to get into the whole KILL Barney spirit. But once I really got a good taste of him… Oh boy! I really wanted to KILL him! Here is a short list of the places I munched on him:
Then my mom took him away!
I wasn’t too happy about that.
Mom documented the damage I did:
I wish I could really kill him, but Mom says she has to fix him up good as new and make his booboos feel better so that he can go someplace else. …But I saw her ordering me a Barney all my own from a place called something like AmazingOn. It really is going to be amazing when I get my own Barney! I’m going to totally kill him!!!
I am sad to see the stinky Barney go, but my mom says we have to share. I don’t really like to share, but at least I’ll have my own Barney soon. And no one knows where he is going next! Look out for him. He’ll turn up somewhere else one of these days! And maybe whoever gets him next can finish the job I started!
Kisses to everybody, especially the cute boy dogs!
I just did a post on my other blog [I keep two blogs for Abby because: it’s easier for my non-tripawd family/friends to comment on the other one, sometimes I blog off topic, sometimes I have to explain things about Abby’s treatment to those folks that don’t need to be explained over here, etc. etc.]. Anyway, the post was an attempt to explain why a … let’s just say grown (also put my age in there!) woman is playing with a stinky stuffed purple dinosaur this week. A family member said I have “too much time on my hands” and even if it was said jokingly, I’m sure they did wonder about my sanity when I was so excited to hear Barney was coming to visit us.
After writing about what Barney means to us on my other blog, I thought maybe some of the newer members of the Tripawd family might also wonder what all this stuff is about Barney, so, rather than repeat myself, you can read what I wrote here. But I also wanted to add that I think the best thing about getting Barney is the journal that comes with him. It’s both inspiring and heartbreaking to read the stories of the other Tripawds that have hosted Barney before. It really makes you feel even closer to the Tripawds family.
It really has been an honor to host the little purple moron.
But it doesn’t mean Abby isn’t going to attempt to tear him limb from limb. But that will be a subject for my next post…
Abby here again. Barney still does not have any clue what me and my mom are up to. Shhhhhh! Don’t tell him!!!
My mom and my aunt took him to the zoo to continue the charade that he is just in San Diego to see the sites. He totally fell for it. They said he had a mostly fun time.
After the zoo, they even took him to Balboa Park. Give me a break! The zoo was bad enough. What’s that stupid dino going to do at a bunch of museums?? But mom says you can’t come to San Diego without going to Balboa Park. (At least that’s what mom said out loud for Barney to hear… Then she whispered in my ear that I can get him REAL SOON.)
Seriously, I’m getting sick of seeing Barney have such a good time. But mom says it’s all part of the plan. She says it’s going to make it that much worse when I ATTACK! I sure hope so, cuz I can’t wait! Stayed tuned, cuz it’s going to be PAWSOME!!
